Capetonians have been doing the rain-dance for the last six months, and the collective efforts have started to fill the dams. But true to our nature, the rains will not keep us indoors and we stand firmly by our sentiment that having FOMO is nothing to be bashful about. To this end, one of the region’s most popular destinations, Bay Harbour Market, in Hout Bay continues to turn up the fire and serve plenty of gees.
With a blazing fire in the centre of the food court, visitors travel from far and near to indulge in cuisine from all corners of the globe. Making it’s mark on the finest menus due to its popularity is seared tuna – and when it comes to this crowd pleaser, Bay Harbour Market’s very own Vagabond Kitchens has been known to serve the very best.
Inspired by their passion for food, the Vagabond Kitchens team are driven by the journey – from sourcing and making to plating and savouring. “Over the years we have built up a great supplier base for all our fresh ingredients,” says Vagabond co-founder FC Cloete. “Our continued support and loyalty to our local producers now puts us in a position whereby we know we are able to serve the best and freshest on every plate we put out.”
Vagabond’s famous Seared Yellowfin Tuna is served with a tropical salsa, red pepper harissa, soy mayo and wild rocket. An equally popular dish on their menu is their Pan-Fried Beef Rump (wet-aged for six weeks). Served in toasted whole-wheat wrap or plated as a salad, this dish is served with avo, Danish feta, balsamic reduction and wild rocket.
So, there you have it – a crackling fire, surrounded by the most divine cuisine and of course, Bay Harbour Market’s renowned KWV Sound-Stage with a killer line-up of local talent every weekend. Sounds like a perfect winter weekend to me!
